BABY BABY BABY

For all of you who don’t know Miek and I are expecting our first baby in May. Beside the fact I can’t wait for the baby to be here, we have already started buying stuff. As of right now we do not know the sex of the baby but we go to the doctor’s on Monday. Being that it’s our first time with this we are like typical first time parents we are buying everything we think is cool for both a boy and a girl. When we were in the states over the Christmas break we did all the shopping for the little one. We bought onesies, jackets (for the cold winters in Alabama lol), socks, shoes, bibs, toys, diaper bag, stroller, and my favorite is a dunk-and-cheer basketball rim that cheers when the baby puts the ball through the hoop.  I am thinking about the future. Some stores had some of the funniest sayings on the clothes like: “cute like my daddy”, “what happens at grandmas stays at grandmas”,”poop is my business and business is good” and “i know i am cute please stop staring” who comes up with this stuff?  My question is how much do you really need? We have not decided on a name yet. One thing i have learned is that being a godparent in Belgium is a serious deal. In the states a godparent is usually your parents best friend at the time.  Most people in the states haven’t seen or heard from the godparent once passed the age 10. In the states the baby shower is given before the baby is born and here it is after. Most people here in Belgium don’t tell the name or the sex of the baby before the birth and with us when we find out i am telling the name, sex, and when i will be in the gym teaching how to shoot a basketball. The baby won’t be born for another 4 months and i already love it more than anything else. I read a book recently that had the perfect quote ” you really don’t know love until you have a child of your own”.  I already feel this way.
