Bree vs Aalst

Yesterday we played on the road in Aalst, the toughest place to play in the Belgian League.  It’s the smallest gym in Belgium and they sell more season tickets than any team in the league. The gym officially holds 2.000 people but last night, I’m sure it was 2.500 people and their fans were sitting right behind our bench, screaming at us for every play that we made.  They were so close to the action that they would comment on the things coach would say during the time-out. It was a hard fought game, we were up 43-27 at half time and being the toughest place to play they made a run and cut the lead to 4 in the fourth quarter.  We picked our defense up and made some shots down the stretch and pulled away with a victory. Final score was 84-75, logging in the most minutes I had all season (19mins) I had 8 points, 5rbs, 1steal, 1 asst.  It was a good win. With 5 games left to go in the season, every victory is important because we want to finish 1st to get the first round bye in the playoffs. Our fans took a bus to the game and the trip is about 2hours and they left at 9 a.m. and the game didn’t start till 8.15 p.m. They went to Gent and did some sightseeing but they still had enough energy to cheer and be excited for the game. Well, I also had some energy left after the game to stay up till 5 a.m. to watch Bernard Hopkins vs Joe Calzaghe fight.
