Bree vs Liege – no 5

Tonight was the fifth time Bree played Liege this season.  Tonight’s game was as ugly as it could get. And when I say ugly I mean ugly. We were 20-60 from the floor (4-24 from 3) with 21 turnovers and somehow we still won (65-64).  So I don’t have to explain to you how we won this game, it is obvious, DEFENSE and REBOUNDS. We out-rebounded them with 56-24. Not just by rebounding our misses – lol. There is a saying we have in Alabama, an ugly win is still a win, so we’ll take it (everyday and twice on Sunday).  We are still in first place, and the second place team Ostend lost, so we have a two-win lead with 4 games to go in the regular season.  Tonight was not one of my better shooting performances, I had 6 points (2 for 8), 4 rebounds, 1 steal in 18 minutes.  After the game tonight my wife (the coach) got on my case about only shooting 3’s tonight and the entire ride home, she kept saying variation, variation, variation.  I know after tonight’s win our fans are extremely happy because there was some trash talking going on between their fans and our fans over the Internet.  It’s always extra special when you beat your former team, I don’t have any bad feelings towards the team, city or player but it’s still really sweet to beat your old team.  Something funny happened today in the local newspaper, they did a feature story on me since we were playing Liege.  I did the interview over the phone for about 15min and 14 min of those were about basketball and one minute was what I eat before the game.  And of course the title of the article is Pancakes and Eggs.  I understand you have to draw people into reading an article, but that sounds like a dish in a cookbook.  First of all I’m not 30 just yet (December is a long time from now), my name is Ronnie (not Ronny) and my wife changes pans when she cooks for me (she doesn’t always use the same one).  Imagine some kid who wants to play professional reading about the pancakes and eggs article, do you think he will ask his mom to make this for him now?  And I just want to tell my dad happy 52nd birthday today ! I will take him lots of bottles of Leffe home this summer.
