Falco Gent 2

Yesterday we played the home game vs Falco Gent and we won 96-67. I (the whole team) was shocked at the score of the game because we respect the team a lot. It’s hard for a team at any level to win a road game when you shoot 38% from the field and 55% from the free throw line. As for our team we had an bye week last week and believe me when I tell you players HATE  bye weeks. We love to play games, if we could play 4 or 5 games a week we would do it. When you get to a certain age the less practice the better but you have to practice to have things work for the games. I hope that is our last bye week for the year. As for my stats from the game i was 3-3 from 2, 2-7 from 3 (ouch), 1-2 from the free throw line(sorry mom) for 13 points 7 rebounds 5 assists 1 steal 1 turnover and yes I even had a block shot.

On another subject what determines a good coach? Strictly wins and loses? How hard does the coach gets his players to play? The system he has his team run? How he relates to his players? Or to get his team to overachieve? This subjects has had me perplexed for some time. For far too long coaches have been determined on how well they can coach based on 2 things wins and loses which i think can be so misleading. It’s misleading because 85% of games are won with the team with the most talent (budget) so that means if a team has more talent does that mean that team’s coach is better? NO. Is Phil Jackson a better coach than Pat Riley? NO, but some will say Jackson has more titles. That is like saying Brittany Spears is a better singer than Whitney Houston because she sold more records. My point is be careful on whom you say is a great coach based on wins and loses because there was a coach in Belgium with a 1st division title who said during a timeout : ” guys why are we not getting open shots in “my” offense somebody is always open” and the coach drew a play on the board with 6 offensive players and 5 defensive players and said: “look somebody is always open in “my” offense” and one player told the coach he drew 6 players on offense and the coach said “oops oh well somebody is always open” and that coach is considered a great coach?!
