MY TOP 10

For years now I have read magazines and watched tv shows on people’s favorite restaurants. I have always thought to myself I can do that too, because basically there is not a scientific process to picking a good restaurant.  Either it’s great, good, ok, bad, or just plain awful. You are probably like me, you have read or seen something or taking a friend’s advice on a great place to eat and you go there and it’s bad and you think wow I will never listen to them again.  Here is my top 10 restaurants of Limburg. Please note this list is based on just the restaurants I have been to and this list is in no particular order.

Pastificio Giuliana in Helchteren – not really a restaurant, just take-out food from Giuliana who basically cooks from her house, but the best Italian around.  We go there at least once a week

Paros in As – Fantastic Greek food, you can order these huge plates with meat/fish

Pocomatto in Hasselt – Italian, they have like 50 different pastas on their menu, when my wife had our baby I was picking up food there for us everyday

Pits in Zolder – Cool scenery, above the race track in Zolder, a mixture of everything, English menus – it’s also a hotel

Dai Cugini in Hasselt – Nice Italian restaurant, in the center of Hasselt with valet parking

Spork in Zolder – Good food, great atmosphere and they don’t take reservations

Chuckwagon bbq in Tongeren – American style bbq, all you can eat ribs/chicken in the weekends, they sell burgers too, owned by an American

Cine Citta in Genk – Italian place right in front of the movie theatre in Genk, perfect movie and dinner place

Enfin in Helchteren – very small restaurant, one waitress, one chef, good quality food

Blanche in Zonhoven – known for its steppegras (real small fries)

Others worth mentioning outside of Limburg:

Marco Polo in Liege – Italian place, known for its pizzas

Testa Rossi in Vilvoorde – small Italian restaurant, have to make reservations

Amadeus in Antwerp – All you can eat rib place in the city center
