RUBBING ELBOWS
Last night i participated in a charity event. The event was put in place to help out with a Congolese effort. I am the type of person who will do anything for charity so this wasn’t any different. When my teammate Odell called me and asked me if i would help out I jumped at the chance but Odell was smart and waited till i said yes to tell me what i/we had to do: we had to play soccer.Soccer? me an american playing soccer, I don’t watch soccer let alone play it in front of people. I was on the Bekende Vlamingen (famous people) team vs the police of Heusden- Zolder. First of all how did I become a BV? (my wife laughs at that). Second we were playing the police, so if anything gets too rough or nasty we can get arrested, lol. When I arrived at the gym there were a few guys in the locker room putting their uniform on, they were lime-booger green, even the socks matched. I wish my wife didn’t bring the camera. The team had Luc Nilis (former soccer player), Werner Daemen (motorracer), Jochen Vertessen (Mister World), Germain Vanenburg (best indoor soccer player), Marleen Renders (marathon runner), Jan Boyen (gold medallist paralympic cyclist), Regi (world famous dj), Heidi Vekeman (Miss Elegance 2008) and others. We won the game, the first time the BV team has ever won against the police team, they have been doing it for 5 years, and even though it’s soccer, they can ask me again next year…
